Dr David Sparks is an Australian trained Specialist Plastic Surgeon with a specific interest in Facial Aesthetic Surgery. Facial cosmetic surgery procedures he performs includes blepharoplasty, brow lift, face and neck lift, lip lift/augmentation as well as paediatric/adult otoplasty. Other cosmetic procedures he performs include those of the breast and body contouring surgery.
Dr Sparks is an expert in surgery for skin cancer/melanoma (including sentinel node biopsy) and also performs surgery for facial palsy (facial reanimation), as well as Head and Neck cancer (parotid tumours, neck lumps, microsurgical reconstruction). For cancer surgery, he has a focus on achieving the most cosmetically favourable results through minimally invasive approaches and innovative techniques.
Having trained in major public and private hospitals throughout Brisbane, Sydney and the Gold Coast, Dr Sparks has had a broad training in all aspects of plastic, hand, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery. On completion of training, he was awarded the Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS).
Dr Sparks has a proud academic record. He has a PhD in regenerative medicine for which he was nominated for the Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award (ODTA) at the Queensland University of Technology. He has also won a number of national research awards during his surgical training, including the Emmett Prize by the Australian Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Neville Davis prize by the Royal Australian College of Surgeons. He was also awarded the Poate Family Plastic and Reconstructive Travel Grant to observe leaders in craniofacial surgery in the United States.
Alongside his background in regenerative medicine research, Dr Sparks integrates his aesthetic interests into his cancer surgery practice to achieve the best possible cosmetic results for his patients.
